Butch Hooper
A founding member and member for several years of West Australia’s legendary MUCKY DUCK Bush Band, Butch has since those heady days, developed a wealth of experience musically, playing from Perth to Hong Kong, Adelaide to Sydney, Beijing to Savannah Georgia to Canberra and many places in between.
In the mid 90’s Butch teamed up with fellow Mucky Duck member, Jerry Everard, in Canberra to form Full Circle which devoted itself to Irish and contemporary folk music.
From 2007 to 2012 Butch was a member of Kellys Heroes, an Irish band playing the Sydney scene, with Kevin Kelly and Tony Pyrzakowski and from 2012 to the present Butch and Tony have combined to form the Irish duo HOOPER & O”TOOLE. Hooper & O’Toole play mainly traditional Irish but on occasion revert to traditional Australian Bush music.

Duke's place, named after our honoured early member Harold 'Duke'
Tritton (1886-1965), is the place to go once a month for a great
night of Australian songs in concert and session. Duke was a
powerful singer who supplied BMC with many songs he had learnt in
his younger days while working as a shearer and at other bush jobs.
He was also a songwriter and poet giving us songs that have entered
the tradition such as Sandy Hollow Line and Shearing in the Bar.

The Bush Music Club was founded in 1954 to collect, publish and popularise Australia’s traditional songs, dances, music, yarns, recitations and folklore and to encourage the composition of a new kind of song - one that was traditional in style but contemporary in theme.
