The Bush Music Club was founded in 1954 to collect, publish and popularise Australia’s traditional songs, dances, music, yarns, recitations and folklore and to encourage the composition of a new kind of song - one that was traditional in style but contemporary in theme.

Hello.. Thank you Bob for this archive. It brings back so many memories. I attended this gig, but have not been photographed. I remember some of the dancers and musicians.I was in the Sydney Colonial Dancers and attended the BMC for many years. I hosted the folk music program on 2SER for about three years. I was in Playford and tried out for the Black Wattle Morris.
ReplyDeletethanks, Michael, Bob was an amazing photographer of BMC & folk events & gave his negative archives (1969 to 2014) to the National Library in 2014. We are currently trying to identify people in his 90+ photo albums so they can also be given to NLA to help when the Library eventually digitises his collection. If you are able to identify people in any photos, or are interested in identifying people in the albums, please contact me thru the email link on our website.
