THE BUSH MUSIC CLUB is proud to announce a COMPETITION for an Australian national song. A minimum of two verses and a chorus plus a melody line is required. Entries will be judged by a panel of three experts in the fields of folklore and music. The winner will receive a £30 prize and entries close with the Secretary, 31st October, 1966.

3. Singabout, Volume 5(4), December 1965 - BALLAD OF THE SCHOONER "ECLIPSE." In 1825 John Bingle's schooner ECLIPSE was being loaded at Newcastle with a cargo of coal for Sydney. Six heavily ironed convicts were engaged in the work ...the story reminded me of the ballads of THE CATALPA and THE CYPRUS BRIG, both convict escape sagas, so I wrote this song to the air of the Irish rebel song, WHO FEARS TO SPEAK OF '98.
