We were accepted for a Themed presentation to celebrate the Centenary of the birth of one of our Founders, John Meredith, a Family Bush Dance with our Youth Bush Band, & our Saplings workshops for young musicians 8-18
Themed presentation on John Meredith
FOLK SONGS OF AUSTRALIA and the men and women who sang them. This concert commemorates John Meredith OAM (1920-2001) who was a founder of the Bush Music Club. He was an innovative collector beginning his search for bush songs and traditional music of Australia In the 1950s; John continued collecting until the 1980s. BMC members Ralph Pride, Kerith Power & Molly Ellis will join John's friends Dale Dengate & Chris Woodland to present items collected from Duke Tritton, Sally Sloane and John Dengate.

Youth Band Bush Music Club
One and a half hours of fun, easy to do bush dances, contemporary and trad in style, selected from the Australian tradition. Young musicians mentored through the Bush Music Club's Concert Party & Saplings make up the BMC's Youth Band with Cathy Richmond calling. No experience is necessary to enjoy these dances.

Saplings Bush Music Club
A daily session just for young musicians (about 8-18) Bring your own instruments and come and have some fun learning Australian songs and tunes, or join in with percussion (some provided.) Expert tutors from the Bush Music Club will be there to help you no matter what level you play at. Music available or play by ear. There will be an opportunity to play what you have leaned on stage!

The Bush Music Club was founded in 1954 to collect, publish and popularise Australia’s traditional songs, dances, music, yarns, recitations and folklore and to encourage the composition of a new kind of song - one that was traditional in style but contemporary in theme.
